I've got an itch I need to scratch !

I was out last weekend with a Sagaris owner who had made a 2.5" custom exhaust including free-flow 100 cell cats. It sounded amazing (Speed 6, obviously).

I've got a sports exhaust but standard cats. There's a pair of cats in my garage with the insides bashed out, but from reading on here the sound would not be nice (with a sports exhaust).

Has anyone got these 100 cell cats on their car (normal cats are 400 cell apparently) with or without a sports exhaust ?

.. and if so, what's the verdict, and what's the difference in sound ?

cheers

Mike

(and apologies in advance for any lack of replies; off to Silverstone tomorrow then Mallory on Sunday)

I ran the 100 cell cats with a sports exhaust (ACT tails). Still have them for MOTs.

Sounded pretty good, quite a roar at full chat. Also noticeably louder at idle than the std cats. I now have the full SP system with decat which is quieter and more refined than that setup.

Also good for power. I did notice more top end after having them fitted. Joo coaxed 369hp out of mine (4.5) with that setup (pre-remap) which is good for a long induction car. After short induction, SP/decat and remap, power went up to 411.

Worth doing if you want to keep cats IMO, but I do prefer the decat sound, so obviously you should also consider ditching them altogether smile
