weird clutch issue

My clutch does not work at all I can put it in gear foot of the pedal and it just sits there, but today I had a friend help me push it across to the other side of the garage and while he was doing that stuck it in gear and the clutch started to work again so much so that I drove it to the other side of the garage and parked it? any ideas as to what's wrong? I was thinking my clutch had gone but now im thinking its something else

yep checked the fluid all seems ok there tried it again today, cant engage a gear unless I put my foot on the clutch but on releasing it doesn't move anywhere unless you give the whole car a shove then it starts to come back to life

I'd say that's definitely fingers.

I'd stop trying it too as where the fingers are gone it will be causing the slave cylinder to cant over in the bore and jam ( hance why it won't drive when released) you'll be damaging the bore and need a new slave as well.
