Set my heart on the previous model RS6 (V8 powered car), looks like main dealers don't hold them any more and you need to go to the specialists/indy's. Presumably some indy's are better than others?? any tips on who's best gratefully rec'd, preferably from a customer not an employee!!

not just in terms of buying the car at a fair price but attention to detail when maintaining it. Got spooked by Autocar saying RS6's are favoured by bank robbers! Would rather pay up for a good one with a clean history than find the 'bargain' of the year which turns out to be a headache in 6 mths.

many thanks

I've used Awesome GTI for years, they are VAG specialists and are very very good, they look after your car opposed to VW/Audi who don't care.

Your fiver's in the post wink

Look after a lot of RS6s and sold some really, really lovely ones recently. You almost forget quite how good they are when they're in top nick.

Dave 500, I just read your horror story on your RS6 ownership experience. Is this unusual or are you one of many to have had such a negative experience of v8 RS6 ownership? Sounds like Crawley Audi (assuming they maintained it?) are best avoided?

any tips on how to own one of these and avoid the maintenance fiasco?

A lot of the problems I had with mine were down to the incompetent dealer network. The best thing to do would be find someone who knows the cars inside out (DR G) and you should minimise the problems. Just remember its not a normal Audi and the dealer network know next to nothing about them so finding a good independent is the key to good ownership IMO. smile
