I bought a 765t a couple of months back then suffered the can't find satellites followed by unable to power up problem that is now well publicised. I also found the voice to be very electronic/distorted sounding compared to my Nuvi 300 which it was replacing (having given it to my parents). It also directed you the wrong way around roundabouts in Germany but I'm not sure if that was a fault or to do with settings.

Anyway rather than risk getting a repaired unit I took it back and got a refund. I am now trying to decide whether to get another one, get the 1490t or possibly a different one altogether with the TomTom app for an iphone also being a possibility.

I can't find any reviews of the 1490t. I am aware that it doesn't have some of the options of the 765t such as MP3, audiobooks, 3d buildings, FM transmitter and the option that marks where you took the unit out of the cradle so you can find your way back to the car and has a bigger screen, more user friendly interface and possibly better options for pedestrian use but would welcome any guidance or links to decent reviews, alternatives I should definitely consider etc.

Cheers

Dan

1490t is going to be a great unit, has the same software as the 1390t, so if you pop into a local halfords you can have a go (1490t is not in store yet, but due very soon)

It's a series of small changes over the last version, but it comes together to make it much nicer to use....wish they would sort out the England/Wales/Scotland selection to United Kingdom like all the others, it's a pain if you (like me) live on the border.

You can type the country as "United Kingdom" instead of "England/Scotland/Wales" and the map becomes seamless... Still can't find anything accurately, but it is seamless.
