Hi guys,

in relation to my thread here:

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...biggrin

Would someone mind popping out to their car and measuring the resistance if any between the 2 pins on the Air Temperature sensor Plug (by the nearside air inlect tract)?

Mine is reading 5.4KOhms and showing 35'C when disconnected which is causing my poor running issues and just need to decipher if its the ecu at fault

Many thanks

I have checked on my car with a multimeter that is able to measure up to 2 Mohm. It shows open circuit.

I have been looking at your earlier topics, and as I have answered you in your other topic I think the problem is in the engine loom connector that is placed under the expansion tank on earlier cars (My 99 doesn´t have the connector there). When your coolant system was flooding in the begging of July, you probably got water in to the connector that is placed underneath the expansion tank. Take the connector apart and give it a good cleaning with isopropanol or some other good cleaner for electronics.

Thanks Peppe, im starting to see how the 2 may be interlinked, If yours is showing opening circuit and mine a resistance then that must be at fault!, ill check the connector again anyhow and report back

May be worth unplugging the ECU and measuring resistance one the pinds direct into the box if you can. See if having the loom attached changes things, in which case some scum or something between two pins/wires could maybe throw off a high resistance feedback.

You may need power to the ECU though to get a 'proper' reading, dunno if you can slide the two offending pins out of the loom with a needle (sometimes easy, sometimes hard)

good luck smile

Thats what i did. good point though, i only measured the resistance across the 2 pins with the ecu out so ill check it connected with power.
