After 7 years, my rear registration plate is starting to get somewhat out of shape.
In the original sales literature for the car, there were lots of cerbies pictured with black registration plates & what looked like white or silver writing.
The effect looked better than the bright yellow thing thats currently on it.
Has any body tried a darker one, is it legal, are they readily available, halfords etc. ?

The black and silver plates are only legal on cars older than 1973 (I think that's the right year - its a bloody long time ago anyway)

I thought about it when I had my titanium Tuscan but bottled it in the end as I didn't want to give the boys in blue any excuses to pull me over!

You could always get them made up as show plates though - fancyplates.com do them...

Illegal I'm afraid Russell(well unless your cars from the 70's or before!. Best place to get your plate is fancy plates.com in Ireland. Got to get the honeycomb type effort for the rear to allow it to light up properly. When you order from this website it has a comments field. Put in you need a rear plate for a TVR Cerbera. The guys knows what to do from there.

Russell,

Unfortunately the silver/white on black plates are only legal on pre-1973 cars.

I think it's actually August 1st 1972 as I had them on my Viva 1800 and could barely live with the guilt of having "illegal plates". God, I was a rebel!
