I've mostly only ever wet-shaved, and will continually to mostly do so, but I fancy getting an electric shaver for those mornings where I have to be up bloody early and out and about looking smart whilst most people are still in the land of nod. On those mornings, and there are many more coming up after my forthcoming job change, wet-shaving is a pain because A)I have to get up slightly earlier to shave, and B)In my bleary-eyed state I cut myself more often.

Now, I had a Braun electric briefly a few years ago, for similar reasons, but it wasn't very good (five o'clock shadow before lunchtime!) and so I ended up only ever using the trimmer for my sideburns. Question is, are the Phillips rotary style shavers any better and closer? Are the foil ones like the Brauns better and closer than they used to be? Any tips welcomed.

Cheers m'dears!

I have a phillips one thats a rotary and It does the job pretty well for a cheapy. The more expensive ones probably do a better job. I've gone back to using a proper razor though as I like drawing huge mustaches and beards on my face with shaving foam tongue out

Ive got a phillips jobbie - the coolskin one, think it was about 50 notes, down from 90.

To be honest, i hardly use it, it takes nearly as long as a proper wet shave and im stubbly again by tea time, whereas a wet shave will normally do me 2 days.

Personally i would save the money and spend it on blades for the fusion

You'll probably find it irritates your skin for the first few weeks that you use it. I have a decent Philishave and it does a good job - I rarely wet shave now. Just remember to keep it topped up....there's nothing worse than being halfway through a shave when the battery dies. I actually keep a razor and foam in the car so that if that ever happens I can shave at the office. smile

I bought one of these (a Panasonic) years ago, and it's been very good...

I read a lot of reviews & went with a Panasonic ES8163 18 months ago for about £90. At the time it was the fastest motor you could get(13,000 RPM) & is really, really good.

I have very sensitive skin [ohhh get you!] and I find wet shaving cuts me too often and irritaes my skin.

I have used Braun for a while and their top end shavers are very good.

I find using some King of Shaves shaving oil is a good idea - really makes shaving less problematic ofr my skin.
