M Roadster Steering Wheel

I've always thought the steering wheel on the M Roadster was too big and too plasticky. The only official replacement seems to be the AC Schnitzer item at about £1k plus fitting which is a bit steep!

The problem with an e36 wheel is that it has a one stage airbag set up where the M Roadster has a 2 stage bag and the two are not compatable. Does anyone know of another replacmeent where I can keep the airbag functionality, and get a wheel with a better chunkier feel and maybe even a smaller diameter?

e46 and later e39s have 2 stage bags. You could possibly fit a wheel from an e46 M3.
