Anybody able to give me some guidance on how to restore a wooden steering wheel that has peeling laquer? Alternatively I'd be interested in hearing about temporary tidy up options.

I've done furniture and gun stocks.

Wood is wood really.

I don't like the std varnish and would prefer oiled but that would need periodic cleaning and re-oiling as its not sealed as such.

Really its simply a case of sanding off the old varnish (or using a stripper)

Then using varnish to recoat it.

That sounds like fun wink, but a waste of a stripper
