Warranty??????

Well guys after finding and reading some of the threads on here, i phoned "TVR Barnet" and spoke to the sales guy about warranties ( which they sell ) he was really honest and told me that unless its a warranty that covers wear and tear ( the car has to be under 5 years old to qualify ) it would probably be of no benifit as this wouldnt cover the usual engine rebuild. Inshort he said his best advise would be to save a little money each year and keep this in a holding fund for such emergencies.

Disagree completely with your Barnet chap. AA (old Motortplan) warranty can be had for £260/520 year/2years. Its good for at least £1k per claim (no limit to number of claim, but they will load you by asking for a percentage eventually). I've had one for three years and it has paid for 2 shocks (£300), a diff input shaft and seal (£500), a s/s radiator (£700), steering rack seals (£200+??), and a power steering pump (£500). These prices include fitting. Cost of warranty for the 3 year period £680. Do the maths.Edited by earlyriser on Monday 27th July 13:23

They covered a T350 in March! Perhaps because I was an exisitng customer? AA took over from the highly regarded Motorplan this year, so are maybe looking to distance themselves from expensive marques.Issue with all warranties is not so much for the small claim where most are good but when an engine rebuild is required. In those cases where repairs can be in the order of many thousands then the chap at TVR Barnet is correct. I'm afraid none of the cheap warranties cover that but the ones sold by authorised TVR dealers for cars under 5 years and 60,000 miles do.
