Hi guy's
Well after a period time of owning a TVR Chimaera I am wondering whether or not to change over to a Z4 3.0i Sport Roadster as I am getting a little fed up of running costs, build quality and all the other niggles associated with this type of car.
On the other hand performance and a great sense of occassion when heading out in the TVR are something to be experienced.
Anyway has anyone out there made a similar leap, does the Z4 give satisfaction and that sense of occassion??

If your budget will run to the "M" version, I'd choose the Z4M over the 3.0Si if I were you. The 3.0 is a great engine, but if you are after a TVR-like experience, the M is the one to aim for (and not just for the engine - brakes, suspension, steering etc all different too).
I'm currently running a Z4MC and had a Z4C 3.0 last year, so have some experience of both.

Completely different character to the engines for one thing. we went from a 500 Griff to an E34 M5, and noticed the need to use the revs. Now in a 3.2 Alpina and, while missing the grunt of a large V8, appreciate the never ending power bandWell after a period time of owning a TVR Chimaera I am wondering whether or not to change over to a Z4 3.0i Sport Roadster as I am getting a little fed up of running costs, build quality and all the other niggles associated with this type of car.

Hi there
Have looked at the M class but can't find anything much for sale! Price range tops off at about 26K?? Anywhere else to look apart from the usual suspects?
As for going from the Griff was it a better feeling knowing that everytime you went out you know you would make it home?? And didn't panic if you left the mobile on the kitchen table! Would you consider going back now? And yes I am concerned about missing the V8 Grunt!!

If a RV8 variant TVR was that unreliable you have a lemon I'm afraid. A BMW isn't a guarantee of infalibility either, nor are they cheap to run if you get an M variant. Probably more expensive on routine servicing than your current car.
I had a Griff 500 and now an E34 540 btw - just wanted to add a little context so I'm not accused of being one eyed

Nope, we had the usual teething problems and did some engine mods but never felt it would let us down.......although it did once when the fuel pump relay wentAs for going from the Griff was it a better feeling knowing that everytime you went out you know you would make it home??
