GT40 seen today

On M6 today I was passed by a nice GT40 reg GT K 40.
I doubt it was an original, but might be wrong, so assume it's a kit.
Anyway if someone knows the owner pass the message that it sounded dog rough with constant backfiring so something's wrong. Better be told than have melted pistons etc
