I'm hoping you guys can recommend a decent wheel cleaning brush.

I'm currently using a MOTHERS brush, however it's too wide to get in between the brake calipers and wheels, and I don't fancy shunting the car around. I've also got a small brush to do inbetween the wheel spokes, but this quickly deforms and misses lots of brake dust.

So I'm after 2 brushes - something which is kind to the wheel's finish, but abrasive enough to remove all the brake. It must also be long enough to get to the back of the alloys, and squeeze inbeteen the caliper and wheel.
Then I need a second one which, again, is kind but abrasive enough, but also small enough to get into fiddely areas of the wheels.

Can anyone recommend two brushes, and suggests places where I could buy them?

Many thanks,

Darren

I use this for the front and fiddly bits of my alloys.

Bilberry diluted to remove the brake dust

And this for the rear of the wheels.

Hope this helps.

These brushes can be purchased from a wide variety of online car valeter suppliers.

I'd recommend these Race Glaze ones - long enough to get through spokes and keep brake dust from spattering you, soft bristles and long lasting. Will also go between the big calipers and rim on my Porsche.

The set of 5 below includes a soft 'Swissvax style' one which you can buy separately for the faces and fiddly bits on the front of the wheel.

It's been a while, but I forgot to thank you both for your suggestions.
My current brushes, although somewhat inferior to those mentioned, are still intact, but will need replacing in the near future.

Many thanks again,

Darren

This is the exact same combo that I use. Use a good sealant on the wheels like FK1000p and you only need water - the dust comes straight off.

If Raceglaze..sorry 944tman is allowed to plug then I'd recommend http://www.envyvaleting.co.uk/products_info.asp?id... as they are the originals and for a lot less money.

If your budget is lower then http://www.envyvaleting.co.uk/products_info.asp?id...

and to get to the inside of the wheels http://www.envyvaleting.co.uk/products_info.asp?id... these are excellent value

Best wishes

Tim

I was given one of the Vikan ones, only the green/red version - splatter city or what?!
Are the soft all black ones much different?

Hi Phil,
They are a lot softer and as such not so "springy" on the bristle front, so IMHO less splatter. I'd say Less than and EZdetail too..but not so big and bushy if you get me?
The tapered design is also meant to help reduce the wearing of wheel cleaner too.
