How to make Britain great again?

Right, you lot: listen in. Britain used to be great. Our navy ruled the waves and our monarch ruled a quarter of the earth. Our factories made goods that were carried all over the world in the world's largest merchant fleet. British cars were the best in the world, our trains, ships and planes too. From parliamentary democracy to the steam engine to the theory of evolution to railways to the TV to the jet engine to antibiotics, Britons invented them all. We brought civilization to the uncivilized, culture to the uncultured, and then spent our treasure and our blood to defend the defenceless.
Then, sometime between 1945 and 2009 it all went wrong.
But the spirit that created Great Britain must still exist...
So, what must we do to turn it around?

Britain started the industrial revolution and had the largest Empire the world has ever seen.
Britain , quite rightly. gave up its Empire and the rest of the workd get industrialised.
Once someone else can make goods cheaper than you your out of that game, Britain has to move on, and move on it did, to Banking & Services, grubbing round making things is old fashined & best left to poor countries with low wages.
Financialy Britain is (was?) still a world power house.
Its the social aspect that has caused the bulk of the issues.

But does it? The WWI and WWII generations gave up so much to defend this country and had a fighting spirit. Now we seem to have a "claim" culture, where the average working man gets less money than a lazy man who can claim job seekers etc. There are people who deserve benefits but amongst those deserving people are the deadweights of society. Watch ten minutes of Jeremy Kyle (if you can stand him for that long) and you will see what I mean. For some reason, us Brits have a negative viewpoint on everything we do. We compete at the highest level in nearly all sports and expect to win them all. We have football, rugby and cricket as 3 of our major sports. In Cricket and Rugby our fiercest rival is Australia, a larger country competing in fewer sports. In football it would be Germany or Argentina, Football being these countries major sports. To put it simply the odds are against us. Just look at the reaction when England failed to qualify for Euro 2008.
Britain is still great, it just has a virus of lazy good for nothing people. We still innovate and have reknowned craftsmen. Lotus are still seen at the forefront of chassis development - Tesla came to them for assistance for example. London is the economic capital of the world. Our trained workforces often command a premium for their skills, such is the training offered in this country. Despite our relatively small size, we still have a powerful military presence and standing within the world. We are culturally extremely diverse people. We may not have a space program or a vast automotive industry, but we do have some of the best scientists, universities, engineers, racing drivers, footballers, rugby players, cricketers, MP's (joke) and actors.
In terms of the size of the British empire we have declined. In terms of greatness I don't think we have. The spirit may have diminished considerably but perhaps this is because we don't require it so to speak. During the aftermath of WWII when rations were still enforced people had to stick together and work as a community. These days we haven't had to sacrafice anything so the need for spirit does not exist. Britain may have many flaws, but nobody is perfect, even Winston Churchill liked a drink and a smoke. .Considering the time of this post, I think my spelling and grammar are ok but feel free to pick it apart. Oh and ofcourse this is just my opinion so feel free to disagree.
Make Prince Harry King. Let him do whatever he jolly well wants to, he could not possibly do a worse job than the politicians over the last 65 years. Actually I think William is more than up to the task, Charles is past it now.
Need to be ruthless, Great Britain used to be ruthless. No-one gets where they want to be by lying back and letting everyone walk over them. Oh you are offended by BAE bribing arabs to buy or jets? Boo hoo I think I hear the worlds smallest violin playing the worlds saddest song. How about we bribe everyone elses politicians to sell more stuff? Every other big manufacturer does.
Stop becoming a politician from being a career choice.
A different method of voting.
Go out into the wide world and make friends, not pander to everyone possible, India does not need money in aid , which it later spent on sending stuff into space. Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) does not need money in aid for hating Britain.
Stop wasting money. Labours computer systems and other brilliant ideas have been costing Billions. They dont work. So why have we paid for them?
Giving all profitable contracts to overseas companies, not really very clever is it?
Stop importing things that arent needed, onions from New Zealand? Really necessary?
Stop pandering to everyone, tell people how it is, if they dont like it they can go listen to Linkin Park, sit in the corner and cut their wrists while posting on Myspace. "Mood; offended as my kids school has a christmas play, it might offend muslims."
Hang Gordo and Tony, or exile them to a small island in the middle of the Atlantic. And all their IRA supporting, CND supporting green communist friends that have ruined this country. (green and red = brown how fitting, Gordo can lead the brown party)
Maybe bring in some form of law and order in this country, the kind where the criminals are treated as such. Its shocking how many times assaulting police is dropped from prosecution and not taken into account when sentancing.

Britain was once the 'powerhouse' of ideas, and to some extent still is. As an example, I bet Lotus make far more money from engineering consultancy than they do from selling plastic cars.
The question being how to recognise and nurture this ingenuity?
Easy.
Bring back grammar schools and get rid of all the second-rate institutions which are now ennobled as 'universities'.
Make true university education free for anyone who makes the grade.
Nothing wrong with 'elitism', provided it's accessible to all.

Far too much immigration has played a big part in the downfall of our country. ( EDIT - yes I am aware there are benefits, ie foreign people that have had children here then benefit the economy and play in sports teams etc etc )

Allowing people to be proud of being English/British without fear of being called a racist would be a start.
Encouraging or childern to try and win and compete at sports events, which will in turn teach them how to loose gracefully.
Punish proven crime so fear will be in the mind of any would be criminal.
Oh and stop letting ourselfs being bullied by those in Europe.

I think it starts with education, as we're now a service based economy we need to invest more in the sciences. For example, if you want do go to uni to do science, maths, economics etc then it should be free.
We need to celebrate educational achievements more. At the moment unless you can sing a bit or kick a football then no-one cares.
Finally I'd like to see 1% of all tax revenue spent on "cool stuff". So I want to see amazing statues of spitfires, huge fountains in town centres and showcase architecture in public buildings.

No economic immigration unless you can prove you have skills we need.
Forcibly evict all foreigners who commit crimes after their sentence ends.
All criminals to serve full length of their sentence, build more prisons.
Prisoners must do community work, litter picking etc a la chain gangs. Exceptional behaviour only = TV and other privileges.
Crackheads/heroin addicts locked up in drug dependency units with free drugs + treatment to wean them off, but they are not free to roam streets robbing. Released when proven they are off drugs.
Capital punishment for paedos and child murderers.
No one gets dole unless they also do community service or spend time in the forces.
Police allowed to police, no red tape, no stupid targets, allowed to exercise judgement.
Get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, stop kissing US arses.
All govt projects to be run by appointed head from industry, if it over-runs on time or budget they are fired with zero bonus, if on time they get a whacking bonus.
Exams are made as hard as old O levels and A levels with less or zero coursework.
University entrance is based on minimum grades only, degrees in stupid subjects canned.
Flat rate personal/corporate/capital gains tax of 25%, sack half of the IR due to simplified rules.
Primary religion is christianity, no laws pander to any other religion, all other religions are tolerated and allowed to practice freely but no customs incorporated into UK law.
Anyone preaching religious hatred or extermist views re. terrorist support - immediately evicted from country to wherever they came from regardless of treatment they will receive when home.
Withdraw from EU civil rights legislation, stay on EU economic policy.
Bank credit is controlled - maximum 90% mortgages, no CC to those on less than £Xk of disposable income, and they have to prove it.
