Mercedes C200 CDI Sport...any good?

Hi all,
A friend of mine has emailed to say he's buying a new Mercedes C200 CDI Sport, with auto box and finished in white. He has apparently been offered a very good finance deal (pcp) which, after trading in an '03 Mondeo diesel, will put him in the brand new Merc for under £300 a month. To keep costs down he isn't ticking a single extras box, though he says the car already comes with more than his Mondeo as standard anyway.
What do we think about this particular model? I have to say I like the look of them, particularly in Sport guise, but are they up to the job in terms of build quality?
I may pop over and see one this afternoon if I can source a similar model.

Ive just recently bought a C320CDI sport and have got to say its a fantastic car. Fast, comforatble, and great handling. In defence to the optional sat nav, it is a good bit more than just sat nav (which is pretty good, although not quite a tom tom), it also includes 6 disc changer, which can play DVDs on the screen when stopped, 6GB hard drive for uploading music too, integrates with the phone system etc. Overall a really neat package.
The 320 was a bit more expensive than the 220 as you would expect, but it comes with a lot more kit as standard, and also buying one of their ex management cars saves a lot on the book price with the options ticked, 10K in my case.
Overall the car is a really nice change to the BMWs Ive had in the past and so far the service from the dealer is much better than my local BM one.

Rubbish, its perfectly adequete.If 136bhp is adequate (please, note correct spelling) in your book then who am I to argue? Personally, I found 150bhp to be frustrating underpowered and slow but we are all different, aren't we va1o?

Definately doesn't need COMAND, it would make a good subsidised pcp deal a lot more expensive (uneccesarily). The future trade market will not expect COMAND on a lower end C Class. I agree the Sport package is good and is quite well equipped. The 200CDI engine will be fine.

To the OP, COMAND is nice if available, and it increases the GFV a little so the difference in payments may not be as drastic as the £2000.00 odd cost may initially look.
The C220Cdi will be substantially dearer though, a dearer car obviously but there is not as much support available either.
The MB pcp deals are on the 'run out' non Blue Efficiency models except for the C180K BE, there is a deal on the C220CDI as well which is only £10/month more.

You're right although the title of the thread is C200 CDI Sport and not C220 CDI Sport.I don't get this Comand valuation by the trade. Say it costs £2k and the trade then depreciates it over say three years and values it at £1k extra when the times comes to sell cos the car has got Comand. Cars that don't have it therefore are valued at £1k less when three years old. Aren't you therefore better off financially but not buying it?
