Thanks. Think I've now decided to give NY a miss as it looks a bit expensive compared to the likes of Dubai etc.

Am off to NYC next Thursday with the family. Got a very good deal with BA, flying Club World for £1000 each, it was only about £50 more expensive than Traveller Plus. Got a good rate on two hotel rooms too.

It is when you consider that the 'normal' price is about 4 times that! biggrin

Expedia price for this trip: £1,278.30 my friends price was £1090 that is for a single person ( to give you an idea of the supplements expida price for 2 people was £1788 so i am paying about £400 extra to go by myself ) and this is for 5 nights travelling on 30th august (my 40th is 31st)

You can book right now for flights in August to New York JFK with BA for about £560 return incl of all taxes. If you are a family of 4 that's a saving of over £2000 compared with the business class fare you have booked!

We (5 adults - although my 13 yo son is hardly that) are going business class for a reason, primarily because we can afford it and it helps considerably having to negotiate long haul travel with my disabled son. I just ran the Club World tickets thorugh BA.com, excat same flights we are travelling on and it came out at a staggering £26923, we paid £5000 booking back in April.

yes but If you tried booking economy class last April aswell, I'm sure that the price would have been noticeably lower than the £560 I was quoted today with just a couple of weeks notice.

Personally I can't see the point of paying thousands more for not alot extra. I've been in BA business a few times when a client has paid for the tickets and based on my experience, If an economy class ticket was, say £600, I would pay maybe £750 for the business class seat. I can't see any more value than that and no way the £1000's that are actually charged. After all, it's only a 7hr flight and you're effectively paying £1000's for the equivalent of less than 1 night for a seat in a dormitary containing about 50 other people.

I can't argue with the logic of that. Fact is we thought they were an affordable bargain at the time and we booked the tickets, can't recall what the equivalent Traveller Class were, but it has cost us probably an extra £2.5K. Fact is Mrs is happy, ergo I am happy. I will have to do my bit to drink and eat the extra cost over Normal seats on the plane and in the Lounge!

Ah but it means he doesn't have to sit next to you in economy so well worth the extra £££ biglaugh

Seriously, there's a bit more to travelling club than £150 difference would pay for as you know since you've travelled it. Some people can afford to pay it and appreciate the flat bed and the better food etc...

If you can't afford it then of course it's going to seem expensive compared to economy.

As for the OP - seriously,Dubai at the mo is cheap for a reason - try stepping outside for more than 5 seconds smile

I am slightly biased though as I work for BA - thanks for flying with us thumbup
