XL (Xtra Load) Rear Tyres

Looking at Bridgestone RE050 rear tyres for the Griff.. however they are only available in an XL load rating..suitable for heavier cars. An XL rated tyre will handle 600kgs per tyre.

I think that the additional sidewall thickness would make for a very harsh ride on a 1060kg car with a 35 profile tires.

Any flaws in my thinking???

You are right, the ride will be harsh. I have XL tyres on my Audi A6 which weighs almost 2 tonnes and its ride isn't the most pliable! (maybe thats the suspension and 35 profile tyres)

There must be good tyres for your rims that are not XL, what size are you looking for?

looking at SP12s.. tyres to suit are (F) 215/40/17 (R) 245/35/18.

So the rears are the same profile as yours...

Bridgestone have been off the boil in terms of the competition for a little while now, I'd go for the goodyear F1's instead
