A Goodwood Breakfast And Vintage Hill Climbing

Something for the weekend... vintage hill climbs, 100 years of Morgan and Soft-top Sunday at Goodwood

If you're heading out and about this weekend and looking for a bit of a nostalgia fest, then there are plenty of motoring-related activities on that should be right up your sepia-tinted country lane. Here are a couple of the highlights from the PistonHeads event calendar.

First up is the Vintage Sports Car Club event at the Prescott Speed Hill Climb. It's a big year for the VSCC, as it celebrates its 75th birthday, and Prescott marks the start of the VSCC's festivities. If you want to see a horde of pre-1930 cars haring up one of the world's most historic stretches of motorsport tarmac, tickets on the gate cost £15 on Saturday and £25 on Sunday. For more information, visit the VSCC's website.

Another major motoring birthday is also being celebrated this weekend as the Morgan Motor Company marks its centenary with a two-day festival at Cheltenham racecourse. The event kicks of on Friday with a convoy of 100 Morgans parading from the company's Morgan base to Cheltenham between 3.30pm and 5pm this Friday. The festival proper takes place on Saturday and Sunday, and tickets are available on 0844 576 2210 from Cheltenham Town Hall Box Office.

A more up to date day out is Soft-top Sunday at the Goodwood Breakfast Club, where roofless cars of all ages, shapes and sizes are welcome. And if you've got an open-cockpit open-cockpit aircraft, so much the better. Lets just hope it doesn't rain...

If you've got an event that's worth shouting about, why not add it to the PH Calendar?

Just saw 9-10 Morgans heading up the A34, some with the roof off even in the rain!

I went to the VSCC Prescott hill climb about ten years ago. It's good fun and as much a party as a sporting event. Everybody's very friendly and it has a very special atmosphere; I'm sure the setting helps too.

Well worth a visit.
