septembers edition of evo has a two page spread on the late Peter Wheeler,very good reading and a quite amusing story of when he climbed into the back seat of a cerbera.
theres also a page on the griffith with the griff growl this weekend.

It still saddens me that no memorial meet/run has taken place for Peter Wheeler, either arranged on here or by the TVRCC.When the factory announced it was going to close, we were out in force, at Blackpool for the workers, and London Thunder, my car still proudly displays the LT sticker on it`s windscreen.
It went to show then, that things could be arranged at short notice.
I know the club dragged its feet then, so i thought they might have been more on the ball this time? There again, we have probably missed the opportunity to show our respects now?

you should maybe have placed this on the tvrcc forum.

i think,but couldnt confirm something is being arranged as a memorial,but do agree it maybe could have taken place sooner. its also easy for people to sit here and criticize others when they've done nothing themselves.
i know next months sprint is dedicated to Peter Wheeler.

i know this did happen,theres pictures of some cars whose owners were off work waiting in a lay-by.
now,if you were a member for a very small sum of money,you would have known this and be able to read about Peter Wheeler in next months sprint.

My Tamora still has the LT sticker as well.

I raised the issue of a memorial meet/run for PW on the CC forum, there was a response that this was going to be discussed (TBH, I can't remember why there was a bit of a delay, must go back on the forum to see if there's been any progress).

Personally, I don't think we can ever miss an opportunity to show our respects to the Great Man.

Just been on the CC forum, this was being discussed at the committee meeting held on 11 Jul. I've added a post asking what the results of the discussions were as I can't see anything.

My personal opinion on this is that it would be pointless to just have a convoy and run out to somewhere without some sort of planning and a sensible destination. London Thunder was to make a point in the noisiest possible way I assume to the government about the closure, as was the run out to the factory on the day it closed to show support to the workers.

I know I was lucky enough to be able to attend the rev-up for Peter's cortege but we also now need to be sensitive to a young family in grief, so I think it would be inappropriate at this time to go say hooning round Clitheroe.

My thoughts are that it might be more appropriate next year on the anniversary (or near to) to arrange some sort of event at one of the Tuscan challenge races and/or create a Peter Wheeler memorial trackday/event?

Just a thought.

The Tuscan Challenge at Mallory Park last weekend was called the Peter Wheeler Memorial Races. I understand that in the future, the round nearest to his passing will be the Peter Wheeler Memorial Races.

Maybe we could get more southerners up. As a chatsworth local I am sure I could help organise camping etc

im very sorry you have been so easily offended,i did not think or mean to be sarcastic to you in any way. i just stated that as you were asking about the tvrcc,it would be maybe better to get a reply on their site.i cant really understand how this has upset you. as for me being an idiot,i can assure you i am no idiot and can manage to perform a search.the number of meets/runs you have arranged does not really interest me enough to perform a search.
i did not or am not in a position to say who is invited to any memorial,i think if you wanted to arrange one,AGAIN, it would be very much appreciated.

as for my light hearted comment to another pistonheader,i cant really see how this concerns you,but im sure he has the intelligence to realize,it was a light hearted comment which does not offend in any way.

As Linda has said the Tuscan Challenge race nearest to his death will be a memorial race. Wouldnt take much to organise a weekend around this meeting.

I can't think of any better memorial to the late Peter Wheeler than to keep our TVRs running for many years to come.
