Definately agree with StuartJ on that - CSCC Future Classics is a great series with good value for money racing at all the usual decent venues, plus the opportunity to race at Spa in a 1 hour race. All the FC races are 40 minutes, mini enduros for one or two drivers (compulsory pit stop for all) so you could either get more track time than in most club races or share the car (& costs) with a mate.

There is also the chance to enter a second race in the day, a Sports Vs Saloon 15/20 min challenge race for just £90-95. So lots of track time available at reasonable costs.

is it a race car from the 80's or has it recently been prepped for racing?

Race in Future Classics if you likelong races and cars with a lot less regs but its not for me, its too loose on the regulations, I suggest Classic Touring Car Racing Club Pre-93's where the car will be competitive with out having to spend fortunes hotrodding it.

or Toyo Tires Racing Saloons, or drop a M20 2 litre in and do PBMW.
TTRS has just done Oulton full circuit (2 x 20mins £200), Brands GP (1 x 15min £125), next month is on DTM weekend at Brands (2 x 20min £300), then Silverstone GP in October (2 x 30min races for £250)

Hi,

I race in Racing Saloons, and there are 325's in there too - and competitive without being hugely modified. Full grids, cheapest race fees, would get my vote.

I also do a couple of Future Classics, nice weekend away but have clauses such as if you win they add a minute to your time next time. So a different feel to a competitive series.

Not strictly true. The minute (for overall race winners only) becomes the minimum length of pit stop required at the driver change (or simulated driver change) in the 40 minute mini-enduro format' its not added to your race time.

Fair point, although the principle still stands. I think further wins are penalised with further minutes.

Reasons aside, artificial penalties set a different tone to the usual competitive outings.

Further wins are penalised by penalties of 30 secs. Agree its different but it hasn't put too many people off that I know of & its easier/ safer to apply than success ballast.

Don't get me wrong, I try and do a couple too.

You'd need about 200kg of success ballast to equate to that! wink
