As titled; is there any point of me trying to open it as it won't eject? Or shall i cut my losses, buy a new changer and get my 6 fav. CD's back?

For what it's worth, the autochanger in my Alpina roadster jams and will not eject on occasion - I've always been able to get the cartridge to release by tapping it quite hard whilst still in position, then pressing the eject button - sometimes takes a few attempts, but has always worked for me.

Happened on the 5 series, when i interchanged cartridges with my E46, Its exactly the same system.

Got stuck, tried and tried, with reasonable force, with screwdrivers etc, tried everything that was reasonably possible without damaging it, was late at night, so i left it til tomorrow morning.

Next morning...

And guess what! it just miraculously poppped out! just by pressing the button! hehe

if the worst comes to the worst remove the whole changer and take the outer case off, (4 or 6 screws iirc) then you'll be able to see where the cartridge is catching (its usually the trays). free it up and put it back together. no need to sell it. Funnily enough i bought my changer of ebay as faulty as the cartridge was stuck, cost me £8 plus 5 minutes to free the cartridge!
