When I bought the car, Alpina B3s, the guy said sometimes the passenger side headlight fails to come on. If you turn it off and on again it sorts it out!
I had the car and light out display yesterday when the lights came on automatically, and when I turned them off and back on, it cleared the problem.
Tonight however, it is back.
OK, so I wiggled the wires the other day and I couldn't get it not to work.
Today they came on in the garage and the warning came up again. Drove back to the yard and up to a reflective surface and yet again, I can't get it not to work and the dash warning has gone out.
This suggests to me it is not the bulb?

It is rarely the bulb in these cases-usually it's the ignitor. You need to get someone with the right kit to look it over, don't play with it when it's switched on-that big yellow warning sticker really does mean don't touch! Sometimes it will need the ignitor and bulb, but there should be a fault code stored.
Good luck
