As the subject says, looking to buy a cheap DSLR, seen one for a good price..

Any pitfalls?

Not that I can think of. There are newer cameras, but they all work on the same principles!

Not really smile The 20D will work with any EF or EF-S lenses just like the newer models

Only differences between the 20D and 30D were buffer size, rear LCD size, and the inclusion of a spot meter.
If you are planning to do motorsports photography then the increase in buffer size for the 30D may be on interest, if not, the 20D would be a great first SLR smile

Hope this helps

Cheers.

P.S. I have a 30D thumbup

20D is a great camera, good for sport too at 5fps, LCD is small but apart from that its well capable.

It's fine. Nicely built and a great SLR; better to buy a used 20D/30D than a newer 400/450 in my opinion.
