Fair play to Obama here, a race row threatening to boil over and he invites the two people at the centre of it to the White House for a beer and a chat. Seems like quite a reasonable way of dealing with this from what I have read.

Should have invited them to the gym and given them a pair of boxing gloves each.

There's only one way to find out who's right; FIGHT! shout

I volunteer to pop over to the White Hose - bring some nice English Real Ales with me and try to persuade Obama not to axe NASA's plans for a return to the moon.

Just because I was having an Al Murray "Pub Landlord" moment.

None intended.

Fair enough.

I thought Obama was trying to mend fences with the French - so a couple of bottles of English Real Ale might not be the best diplomatic move. Maybe a few bottle of Biers d'Alscace would do the trick.

Obama screwed up on this, and he knows it. He jumped in far too soon and this is the best he can do by way of an apology, other than a complete retraction, to the cop he prematurely maligned.

Quite the Harold Wilson touch hasn’t he. What happened to the sandwiches? Perhaps he should try sorting out the Middle East problems next.

I wonder what they’d say to the offer of a few beers and some nice ham sandwiches.

nuts

I agree. He spoke without thinking and thought up a decent way to try to deal with the firestorm.

And because it was the right thing to do. He made a mistake and owned up to it. I can't remember to many politicians doing that....

IMO, he did it for his benefit, not the good of the country. That is what all politicians do, cover their a$$. However, it was a good move and good damage control.
