Anyone had experience of both the manual and automatic? Just wondering if the auto spoils (or improves?) the driving experience.

By definition it spoils it.
However it can be improved to suit your driving style by tuning the trans TCM
Default is slow and sloppy (Relaxing)
You can make it hard and fast (Exciting)

But perhaps after a long day out etc somewhere in the middle suits.

Anyway, torque, shift firmness, speed of shift etc are all configurable.

I gather Wortec have started tuning the 'box now. Not sure if it's on general release yet.

I was not a big fan of the 6 speed auto BUT we decided to have a look at producing a map for the auto as there is a 40% auto/manual split.

The origional gearbox map had the car hunting up and down the box all the time and was very keen to keep down shifting which made for a franetic drive....not very V8 like!

So after 2 months of testing and 4000 miles we now offer a auto map for VXR8 and as I am bound to say I think I might get an auto next!!!

If Seward Poole (Branksome) have not sold it yet they have a car you can test drive.

Yeah, it would just be its durability with regards to extended power that might not be as good as the manual.
But a nice firm shifting auto wouldnt be so bad. Especially in traffic.

Not sure what you mean about seeing it.
But the trans can be logged and tuned exactly in the same way as the engine on the PC using software.
If you download efilive you can open a trans tune and take a look yourself smile

Your car has some changes to the box but most of the work was related to load reduction induced by the cam. . . . . The auto box has more peramiters than the engine pcm . . . . . . . .There is huge scope to tailler to your needs

Any of our dealers can give you details....

Got mine done from a US Corvette tuner, best $399 I've ever spent on my car, it's a real animal when it shifts now plus all the up and down searching for gears has gone, also have the oil cooler on mine. Cars in the US are putting a lot of power through these boxes, there's parts available already to beef them up like clutch packs and stalls, if mine ever breaks I'll be looking for a fully built trans from someone like RPM Transmissions.

take it the tcm is fully programmable in efi rich? Wortec are you using HPT or EFI? If I get one and its looking bloody likely, I think looking at adjusting the box.

Yeah Mysty's was done with efilive, I flashed his US tune in for him.
Paul uses HPT. Efi has full control over the trans.

I think Gareth messes his trans around too.

well if i like the deal and I get the motor and if it is auto (actually prob prefer one if you can manually override) then I'll start to play

Everything will remain stock this time though
