The travel agent has suggested that I take a travel money card as well as cash to a holiday in Sorrento…. Seems a good idea, not linked to any of my other accounts and part of Master Card. Looks like I put money on it, and withdraw as I need it….

Cant see any disadvantages, apart from the 2 Euro each time you withdraw…

Any opinions?

I'd say they are great outside Europe, but Nationwide's Flex Account still does free withdrawls in mainland Europe so get one of those instead. The only downside perhaps is that it is harder to check how much cash you have left.

Check out the Travelex Cash Passport and the Caxton FX pre-paid cards. They certainly both used to do excellant deals and the exchange rates for both tended to be very good.
