I've always thought it looks a bit 'strange' to have the diffuser on the back end of an elise in natural aluminium colour rather than body coloured, or probably better a similar black colour to the grille around the exhausts (kind of a satin black). Has anyone repainted theirs in this way? if so how does it look?

The black one is a standard Lotus part - my car has one from the factory.

I don't know about painting one, though. I guess it gets a fair bit of abuse from stones kicked up by the wheels.

Someone over on MLOC was looking to paint theirs a couple of months back (following a flurry of people tarting up the grills above the diffuser).

Might be worth a post on there to see if he ever got round to doing it and what the results were.

Hi, do you have any pics as I would interested to see what that looks like. Just got a Black 111R and was wondering about getting this done.

Cheers.

P.S. Was it a replacement part in black or was it painted?

The type-25 has it as standard, this will give you an idea (although it's not a black car):

It is a replcement to the standard job,If you have the old one painted it may start to look its age in a very short while, its a gamble!
Ill take a picture of it for you,and I think you will agree, its sets off my new Larini pipes really well.....Sorry,just had to throw that in!

I had mine replaced as a black diffuser on my old 111S when it needed some repair work - apparently it is an official lotus part and, believe it or not, was only sold on Swiss cars. But nevertheless, it is an official part (not sure if that's changed - this was 2005 I had it done) and is easily purchaseable through Lotus.

And, it looks really good in my opinion smile

Congrats mate I had a good look at it and the evora whilst I was having my spare key reprogrammed on Monday. This will be the longest week of your life. What time do you pick up on Friday? If it hasn't already make sure you get a sports exhaust as it transforms the car
