Right. Been riding for about 13years with Shimano SPDs. Never crashed because of them.

I recently bought some Time Roc Ataks, as in my twilite years I was looking to save my knees!!

What a heap of Kak!! I've crashed 3 times in two rides. 3rd one was nasty (2hrs ago).

Straight on fleabay!

I know a bad workman blames his tools, but there are some exceptions.

Rant over.

I think the problem is precisely that you've been using SPDs for 13 years - your muscle memory isn't yet geared to releasing from ATACs without needing to think about it.

The release angle on ATACs is much greater than that of SPDs because of all that lovely, knee-saving float!

You need to either persevere and re-learn the moves needed or else stick to what your legs know best.

You should try road pedals. Try setting off from the lights on a hill. Then you'll know the potential for pain.

Know what you mean rolleyes

If you don't get your foot clipped in first attempt they're a damn nightmare. I changed back to MTB spds on my road bike because I hated road spds, but then hated the road bike anyway so changed to a 'cross bike...

Absolutely. They are a nightmare to engage also. Starting off on gnarly up slopes is impossible. I've already decided to go back to SPuDs. The Ataks have no release adjustment (or at least mine didn't), so you can't train like you do when you start with SPuDs.

Anyone fancy the Times. Used for 5 hrs/3 stacks?

I'd be interested in the pedals, drop me an email. I've just gotten back into biking in a big way and got some Shimano M520s, but they're giving me some knee issues at the moment.

I have a pair of V8s for messing around in, but for any serious riding I've always liked SPDs.

I have these and they're great. I had no idea they cost more than my first road bike though! yikes
