Was just wondering what the ending music was for the Aston Martin piece on top gear?

Seemed to go very well with the camera work and the mood of the section.

(mods...is this in the correct section? --- I'm not talking directly about a TV/Films show, so didn't put it into TV section....I'm not talking directly about current chart music so didn't put it into the music section....I'm not talking directly about cars so didn't put it into the general gassing section also not talking directly about cameras or photography so didn't think it should have gone in that section and finally I'm not talking directly about Aston Martins so never put it into the Aston Martin section)

;-)

Did they not play some Queens of The Stoneage during that piece, or was that in an earlier piece (or am i just imagining it)?

I thought at some point they used 'DeVotchKa - How it ends' too.

That was in the 'adverts' piece.

And just because it was featured (although in the VW section)

A truly wonderful piece of music

Cliff Martinez with excerpts from Under Milk Wood read by Richard Burton.

That has to be one of my favourite pieces of advertising. Ever.

Lovely piece of music.

Brilliantly shows how music completely dictates the pace and editing - notice how all the scene cuts are done on the beat/note change, although not immedtiately noticeable due to the length of the note/chords.

Respect to the editor on this - and indeed the whole programme last night was a visual delight!

Very well-known piece, was also used in Traffic. It's on his Music For Films album.

I also had the same thought and knew i'd heard it before and spent the next two hours searching my ipod and came up with this track;

Artist: Frou Frou
Album: Details
Track: Hear me out

Check the melody underlying the chorus.

They did, on one (two actually) of the VW adverts. A great track, loved it since I first heard it on the advert for Halo 17 (or whatever version they are on now).

Thanks for asking this OP (and for the responses all) - was something I was thinking about while watching it last night! Very emotive track which fitted the article perfectly biggrin

And may I add there you can never use William Orbit's remix of Barber's "Adagio for the Strings" too often. Anywhere.

Until they rescreen it on Dave, and ruin the music again. (I am the only one who has noticed this? The worst offender was the Battle of Britain scene in the UK vs Germany) Completely destroyed a fine scene. (Out of interest, are the DVD challenges the BBC edits?)

It was also on James May on the Moon, which was a perfect match for the programme/scene IMO.
