Taking my clubs on a flight, and not done it before. My bag has a hood, but is just held on with poppers - some friends say you need a full hard case, others say soft bag is fine - and others say I'll be fine with just the hood.

What do PHers use when they take their clubs away?

Soft golf bag will be fine but I would get one unless your hood is very secure. Most that I have had I would not be comfortable with the poppers coping with the rough and tumble of baggage handling, put the hood on as they are usually padded and then soft bag with zip over the whole caboodle.

I would get one of those soft bags for taking clubs on aeroplanes smile You should be able to pick one up for about £25.

They generally won't take the bag on it's own as it has too many straps and protrusions etc.

  • *** TOP TIPs *****
Wrap your Beach Towel / Bath Towel tightly round the Heads of your clubs in the bag, before putting the cover on.
Pack your clothes in the bag as well to soften any impacts.
Make the bag as heavy as possible - Otherwise the handlers can throw them further/higher into the hold.
Buy a cover, even if its a thin one without padding. Airplanes and handling systems are dirty, your bag may end up covered in carp if not. Shrink wrap is another option.
