Hi World

Its time to spend some of the hard-earning on my old fave.......my 1981 928.

She is booked in for fresh paint in Jan and i really must re-trim her inside.

However i am realy stuck in finding a complete carpet set for her - can find plenty of 911 carpets etc, but none for my 928.

Can anyone help?

Would be most grateful

Kind regards

Yep, I'd just get a trimmers to sort it out.
You may find them cheaper (and possibly better) than buying bona fide Porche carpets.
You'll get a lot more choice in finish & colour too.

I'd recommend Martrim, but they're in Cheshire which I guess is a little to for away for you.

Are Martim OK then, only my office is just round the corner and I want my heated seats fixing and the rear carpet repairing.

Autostyle are good, but you would probably need to send them the old carpets to copy. Only their top quality range would be good enough for a 928...!

I would recommend Martrim although there is a bit of a story behind it...

I used them to replace the hood on my 400SE.

They did an excellent job at a very good price.

However it took them about two weeks and I kept getting excuses about the guy who was doing my car was ill/on holiday etc. (Although they do have more than one trimmer!)

It was only a couple of week after getting the car back, upon discovering broken bits of glass in the carpet I realised they had smashed the passenger side window and had it replaced (at Christopher Neils it transpired).
Hence the delay.

It was very decent of them to fix it and not try to bump up the cost of the hood to cover it. After all they probably lost all their profit out of the job.
But I was pretty angy that they couldn't have been straight with me in the first place. Being repeatedly told that "it still wasn't ready yet" really wound me up.

Would I use them again?

Yes I probably would. They were good and reasonably priced and I'm quite sure that that incident was strictly a one-off.
But I would tell them I knew about the window and not to f**k me around this time. I think honesty really is the best policy. I would have been far less annoyed if they had just come clean in the first place.

P.S.

pesty suggested Southbound. When I was getting backache with Porsche seats AFN recommended them as the best in the business. Maybe - maybe not, but worth a try.
