Car is in for a service...

1. Noticed fuel cap doesnt always open first touch, takes 3-4 presses of the button. Aston say the cable is ceased or broken on it, £115 to fix, They doubt its covered under extended warranty - surely it would be?!

2. Air Con Service... Recommended every 2 years, ~£100, worth doing? My Air con works fine...

3. Tracking is 3mm out apparently, £100 to do the tracking, seems steep??

Sounds like your dealer doesn't know the true meanning of the word service.

1. Insist it is covered by warranty

2. Recommended by whom and why? Probably only recommended by AM so their dealers can make more money. As long as you have used the air con regularly and its working OK at the moment I wouldn't bother plus most small garages will carry this out for you.

3.Similarly any reputable tyre supplier wiil do the tracking for you at a fraction of the price. I would get this done soon though as you can very quickly wear the inside edge of a tyre out without noticing,

regards, Tim

Well my tyres have hardly warn and are wearing EXTREMELY well and evenly, also I just had an MOT done 3 weeks ago (Not at AM) and they did not flag up tracking as an issue at all...

Regarding the fuel cap thingy, my car is just out of manufacturer and into the aston extended warranty, which he says probably wont cover the fuel cable wearing or snapping, I have told him to put it to the warranty people (I am extending at £1099 at the same time!).

i had similiar issues that's why i turned to an independant specialist, half the price, niggles sorted mostly without additional cost, and just better all round experience, if the specialist offered an extended warranty you would not see me at a dealer service department again.

I doubt the extended warranty will cover the fuel flap. Look at the detailed ts and cs. You may get lucky, but it's just this sort of thing that they end up getting you on.

As per the others, I'd go to an indie for the rest.

Im going to just ask them to grease the fuel flap. It can't be a broken cable as most the time it works, just occasionally I have to press the button 2 or 3 times to make it pop open.

The other things I can get done easily elsewhere.

Thanks!

Why not just quirt some WD40 on the latching mechanism first, see if that does the trick.

Like you, I would bet it's just dirt or something in the catch.

Had the same problem with my fuel flap from new, there is now a new modification for the latest
cars, something to do with replacing the hinge pin kit etc. Mine was replaced under warranty and has
been fine ever since.

Thought I would update you, Grange Welwyn got me sorted with the new fuel cap cable covered under extended warranty. They also fixed a few other bits and bobs for me (small minor annoyances rather than faults smile) and I pick her up tomorrow, so far service excellent!

Glad to hear it.

This is what you want to hear from a marque and a far cry from the way Italian marques treat you (IME).

Nothing serious and mostly things I have had fixed in the past already... the odd squeek and rattle, handbrake adjusted as the light didnt always go off first time you take the handbrake off...

I made a thread several months ago on some warranty fixes I had done as I like to make sure anything that can be done has been done on my car smile
