You're Top Gear's producer. You want to revamp the programme but, also want to retain a link to the past: one presenter.

Which one would you want to retain as part of a new format show?

Tricky.

Stig's definitely out. Just a gimmick.

Clarkson IS Top Gear, given his years of hosting it. But he's also getting a bit tiresome and repetitive.

Hammond's improving - might have been the bump on the head - but still a bit too inclined to ape Clarkson

May's excellent, but I don't think he has the cross-demographic appeal that the BBC might consider Hammond to have.

In summary then, no idea biggrin

Yep i am with Famous Graham on this one, clarkson is getting a bit repetitive and now seams to favour sexual jokes in order to get a laugh, just look at top gear last week, normally i dont mind this, but I always think its cheap humour

As much as Clarkson annoys me at times, he still is Top Gear and it wouldn't be the same without him IMO.

Don't you think his presence would drag down any attempt to bring a fresh, new format to the show?

His personality would continue to override any new presenters.

Hammond is first out, I'd get that irritating little fkwit off the telly. Clarkson is past it but is TG so he'd have to stay until he himself calls it quits, May is brilliant and Stig, although a dull gimmick will also have to stay for the lappy bit.

I know, I know, you only wanted to retain one, but while I can cope with Clarkson and the stig, Hammond is the most annoying twerp on TV at the minute. His voice is like some sort of bdised CBBC presenter mating with Smashey and Nicey. And his clothes and hair... What is he? A New Romantic highwayman. Tit.

It's not the characters that's the problem, it's the show. Watch anything from the first two seasons. Note how there is SO MUCH to enjoy. Now watch something from the recent seasons: basically all you get is news, siarpc, one 5-minute test at the beginning, one or two cars around the track, and a bullst challenge that no one really gives a crap about.

Andy, if you're listening, go to the old Top Gear.

It's gone too far towards becoming an ego trip for Jeremy Clarkson what with his need to get the gurning audience to agree with him whatever he says and his desire to express his political opinions on the show. Hammond is so full of old motoring cliches and bias it's unbelievable, although he is just a journo after all. I don't get the feeling he has petrol in his veins, just eau de toilette.

Some of the reckless smashing of what are/could be decent classic cars also gets my goat - Alfas, Porsches, Jags, MORRISES! I mean a bit of smashing is good but not every bloody episode.

The episode from a few weeks ago where they had to compare cheap new cars - instead they chose to compare cars that cost at least twice what the cheapest cars on the market cost. They could have tried to have some fun with the 5-6k bracket cars - what, could the Skoda they chose have been that much better? Where is their imagination?
Even my favoured presenter James May is getting a little too autistic for my liking.

As Clarkson owns TG you can't have the programme without him.

I would have Suzy Perry and Frank Skinner as co-hosts. Top totty and top humour biglaugh

I would keep SIARPC but have a true petrolheads only. Bin the coolwall it's crap.....

....
especially as they don't have my car on it!

Yep - had Jason Dawe doing the 'car inside dealer' bit - dunno why they aren't repeated

Clarkson.
May.
Stig.
Hammond.

Keep em in that order. I don't really mind any of them though, I think the mix is good. They just need to keep finding good ideas, review a few more cars even if not in a standard fashion and have lots of the challenges, preferably abroad.

My choice went on James May...

Sorry Mr. Hammond if you read posts like these, but watching you on TopGear is like watching one of those dreary episode's of "Eastenders", or any soap programme for that matter. Your funny at times but we can all see that you are just trying too hard and it's letting the team down!

Jerremy Clarkson - As people said, "He is Topgear".
James May - Brilliant on camera. Certainly one of those types of people that you could'nt find a reason to hate.
Stig - Don't know anything about him apart from driving on a track.

BTW. What ever happend to TopGear dog?
