I have a 57 VXR8 problem with gears not wanting to go into reverse when engine warm/hot and rasping noise when accelerating

I always dip the cluch put the car into second gear still foot on the cluch then slowly fron 2nd into reverse. I also changed the gearbox oil to Royal Purple and make sure the cluch fluid is clean. See what thats like.....

Yeah the reverse gear issue is "normal", but a noise etc might not be. Take it to a sponsor or dealer to check.

thanks for that, tried all the normal bits de cluching, other gears but it felt like I was trying to push into a brick wall, its still under warrenty til the 15th, I think Motorbodies need another visit,

Let it start pulling forward in first or second gear then snatch reverse. My new-ish VXR8 does it and I had a replacement trans early on in my ownership! both were hard to get into reverse. The new one is getting better slowly over time.

hi all, just to let you know baby's gone to Motorbodies, Steve and the VXR boys had a look and now they are putting a new gearbox in as soon as they can get one, should hear tomorrow when they will be able to get one, hopefully one in this country!!!!!!!
