E46 - faint petrol smell on start

Noticed a slight whiff of petrol last few times I've driven the car - checked under the bonnet and no visible signs of anything, the smell seemed worse down by the charcoal filter (? the thing with Pierberg written on it). Not noticed it before, anything I should specifically check?

Can't find my toolkit so can't take the top cover off
