I'm on the hunt for a new shirt and some shoes to wear to the upcoming wedding.

The shirt I'd like something nice, but not too expensive, as I might have to buy a few for my ushers and best man. What are TM Lewin like, is there another store I can look at in London?

I'd also need to get some new shoes, willing to buy a nice pair for myself that will last sometime, but have no idea where to start. So if you have any suggestions where I can look in London and roughly what the cost is likely to be I'd be grateful.

No comment on shirts, I just buy top end M&S ones.

Shoes however, I have recently bought a few pairs of Loakes, and have found the fit, finish, and quality very high for a modest price tag. Take a look at their site.

Head to Jermyn Street and wander up and down there, plenty to look at there, certainly for shirts. If you want a bit more designer then go to Selfridges and there's a churches shop for shoes on both Bond St and Regent St.

As said above jermyn street is your best bet. Lewins, hawes & curtis, roderick charles etc all make pretty decent (and cheap) shirts. go and have a look in churchs for traditional shoes prob looking at £150 to £400 (they have a sale on at the moment). or if your feeling rich head down to john lobb!

Sand shirt.
Oliver Sweeney shoes.

Not overly expensive and really nice quality items.

I buy Curtis shirts, the first time I ventured into Lewin realms, the quality of the fabric seemed much cheaper.

Second the Loakes recommendation. I used to get through a pair of £30-40 'smart' shoes in 6 months, but my £100 Loakes are probably only 30% worn, despite a full 12 months use nearly every day. Cheap shoes are false economy.

Duchamps for the shirt - while they have some quite individual designs, they also do some very subtle stuff and some cracking cufflinks.

Crockett & Jones for the shoes - have to say that I rate them on par or over Churches for comfort and build.

Unfortunately the posters on PH won't be able to resist naming the most expensive brands they can think of.

Will you be able to suggest something that's better value?

Nothing wrong with TM Lewin at all smile

If you like Loakes, check out the John Lewis own brand, they used to be made by the same company I believe.
