To cut a long story short, my little friend was round this evening & she was ordering a pizza for collection. She then says "they want your phone number" Why we're collecting, anyway, I give them my fax number. Then they want a full address & postcode!! WTF? I said to her "put the phone down, we'll go elsewhere" which we did.

The reason we always collect is because I don't like people coming round my house & I don't like giving people my phone number or address, I'm a bit strange I know, but it's the way I am.

What I don't understand is, why do Domino's want my full address, postcode & telephone number when I'm ordering a collection?

Probably so they can send you leaflets and when you call up they already have your details?

I think there is more to worry about than your local Domino's Pizza knowing your whereabouts and address details! As already said, they will use this information in future to send you leaflets and offers through the post. Also, when you next phone them they will know your previous order in case you want the same again ...

Anyway, Herbies ftw! wink

To send you money off coupons, vouchers for BOGOFs that sort of thing.

I work at Domino's and I can tell you for sure that we don't need any details other that a name if it's for collection, the person on the phone either A. thought you meant it was for delivery, B. is new and doesn't know how to answer the phone correctly or C. is fkin stupid.

That's encouraging because I do like their pizzas but there's no way I would give them my details so I'll see what happens next time.

I didn't think about the posting of leaflets etc, makes sense but I don't want their leaflets or special offers.

And as for BOGOFs, unless you're buying for loads of people I don't see the point, & the look on the faces of staff when I say that I don't want the free pizza is priceless sometimes. "But it's free" yeah I know it's free but I don't want it, "but it's free" yeah I know it's free but WTF am I gonna do with two pizzas? I only want one. nuts

Here speaks a man who has yet to savour the delights of "pizza breakfast". It actually reheats surprisingly well. One to eat at the time and another for the morning after - perfect for the man who laughs in the face of cholesterol.

My sister has pizza from the aformentioned company so often that the staff at her local one recognise her over the phone and ask if she 'wants the usual pizza' (no editing please).

EDIT - hmm, better?

Maybe you shouldn't use DP for Domino's Pizza, that is asking for it a bit.

Well I originally had it a Domino's and changed that, but now that I look at it, it couldn't be much worse. I will have another go.

Never ordered in the UK, but I know the local Dominos where I lived in the US wanted your phone number and address to double check it against their caller ID to reduce the incidence of prank callers ordering pizzas that were not really wanted or wouldn't be paid for.

I have had an order refused when I called from a friend's house before setting off for home and that was the reason I was given. His phone number/address was not in the area served by the Dominoes local to my house.

Would you not want a way of contacting some idiot who had made you make up £20 worth of food that can't be re sold??
