Just wanted to mention that I finally did my very first track day yesterday at Goodwood. I was a bit dubious at first having done several advanced driver training days on the road, but having gone round with the instructor to learn the track then had six, ten minute blocks of track time, I came away with the track day bug. All of the other guys and girls there yesterday were either novices like me or experienced trackies but all were extremely friendly. And to top it off Derek Bell turned up in the afternoon to test what looked like a Jaguar E-type hard top ready for the Goodwood revival in September. He came out in our group of 5 cars and sure enough lapped everyone at least once (twice for me). During the wait to get on track he was more than happy to chat to everyone and signed a few autographs.

Even though one of the greatest racing drivers graced our day, I'm now completely hooked and will be looking at doing more track days even though my brand new discs fitted on Friday are well worn in and my front tyres are mullered and grained on the edges. It was well worth the money and to do it Goodwood was even more special.

Just wondered if anyone else has been on a goodwood track day and wondered what they thought?

Hi Steve, I was the old bloke pottering around in the black Ultima.

Goodwood in the sunshine is something special - a really relaxed and gentle experience compared to say, Brands Hatch. The 5 car days are particularly good if you like having a virtually empty track. Awesome to have Derek Bell driving a classic E-Type on a classic circuit.

I think the last 5 car day is 22nd August so hope to see you there!

We went to a 15 car open pit lane some weeks back. The open pit lane description doesn't really apply as they are limited to 5 cars on track, as has been discussed here previously.

However, it was my first time in the hot seat around Goodwood and it's purpose built for our Radical. Managed to get a lot of laps in and loved every one of them. For such a seemingly semple circuit it's full of subtle elements that reward the thinking driver. Only circuit that has had the same effect on me was Le Mans Bugatti but that wasn't as much fun.

If you get the chance, try it! It's a circuit that will punish the plonkers though although our day was without mishap.

Contrast that with Brands the other evening. Too many cars, too many idiots, too many red flags and no one using their mirrors!

It's brilliant to be around some of these vastly experienced drivers as well. Tiff Needell was driving our Radical at Brands for most of the evening doing some rides for charity. You think you are getting something nailed and are pretty quick, and then you get in with one of these guys!!!!

Anyway, Goodwood gets the thumbs up. Will be brilliant to watch the revival having driven the circuit now as well.

Ah... there's hope yet then. I'd love to drive there again but didn't realise it was possible.

Who runs the days?

Hi Stuart I was there with my green Impreza WRX, didn't realise your were a PH'er. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello. Glad the weather held up for us yesterday! Can't quite stretch to another full track day at the moment, but I might look at a half day later on in the year. I'm definately going to start investing in some track gear though. Glad you had a good day, hopefully I'll see you again some time.

Goodwood Motor Circuit run most of the 105 days, although the nice chaps at Trackmasters have one on 9th November - 5 car day, 20 cars maximum entry. Porsche Club also have some.

Plenty of 98 db days with Goodwood, Goldtrack, BaT Easy etc.
