Put a post on here little while ago about an "annoying little squeek" got a lot of witty replies (although one or two wifes or girlfriends may not agree) but not too much actual help !
However think I have now sorted it, bottom rear shocker bushes had worn through allowing the metal sleeve that the bolt goes through to rub on the shock absorber itself.

Shocks are only few months and not many miles old !
Very helpful man at AVO says caused by the suspension geometry on S's being wrong which then tries to sort of twist the shocker as it goes up and down, while he did supply some replacements ( FOC ) suggested trying to find some rubber bushes which will tolerate this mis-alignment better.

I also got a free replacement set of bushes from AVO - though I've seen it somewhere someone posted that there's a ridge in the bush housing on the shock that causes damage to the bush. I can't comment.
Norman its just a poly bush with a tube through it - but the suspension doesn't line up very well as Pete says a bearing arrangement would be miles better.

How are the replacement set doing ?Had a real good look at shocker ends, all looked fine even though the (harder ?) steel bushes had marks on them almost like you'd expect on a shaft or something that had run dry and "picked up". These were obviousley cleaned up before re fitting and swopped around with the top ones.
Think I'll give it a month or two then remove and see how they look.
Well, despite the state of those bushes turned out they were not the cause of the squeak !
Had a bit more of a play tonight and it is definately one of the shocks squeaking as it compresses, other side is fine.If I turn the adjustment down to zero (softest) no noise but as Stiffness is increased above about four clicks ( I've been running on 8 ) it gets worse. next step is another call to AVO on Monday !
Anyone actually tried driving their car with shocks on softest ? Handling is interesting to say the least

Does anyone know if GAZ Golds have spherical joints? Can these be added after purchase or do they come on dedicated struts..
Cheers
Damian
Check out adds in "Sprint" looks like Golds have sphericals and Classics have bushes, sure any supplier could advise on interchangeability ( is that a real word ? )Cheers
