level gear surround - refit

I want to remove the gear lever gator and have the leven ali gear surround fitted that appears to sandwich the gator. Anyone removed one of these - is refit whilst trapping the gator a simple affair or do I have to mess around getting under the tunnel trim ?

I did this and found it the most difficult Leven part I have ever fitted.

Nothing wrong with it if likened to the pleasure of gynaecology through a letter box had the massive desire to train a hamster to hold the surround from inside the transmission tunnel to locate the bolts.

After bruised fingers, I lifted (only slightly) the center console.
Worth it in the end, but don’t start just prior to going out!
