Hi, buying the car here is the easy part - so long as you can provide the money you can take the car away!

You should really take the complete registration document (V5) as this will help registering the car in Italy. I took an E-type Jaguar down 18 months ago; you will also need some form of documentation to show the standard specification of the car in order for the libretto to be issued. This might be a little more complicated than usual as TVR are not trading, however, it should certainly be possible.

Insurance might be complicated, it's unlikely that a UK insurer will provide you with cover as you are not a resident here, you could either see if it can be arranged from Italy (complicate!?) or, more easily, just take the car back on a trailer.

Whereabouts in Italy are you? I took my E-type to Rome, speaking to a few people in the ACI there they seemed to think that registering a foreign vehicle (particularly an unusual one) was easier and more common in the North of Italy. Having said tha, I know of one guy in Rome who successfully imported and registered an AC Cobra replica, so anything is possibile - but it might take some time

thanks for your interest,i have heard that you can insurance a car in england for a certain milege so you can drive it to italy .is it possible?i m interested to buy a used tvr 500 do you think i will have troubles to have the documents neede in italy to register this car. i meean the famous libretto with all the car speciofications of a chimera from tvr?

I don't think any insurer will cover you if you aren't resident here - a trailer really would be an easier option!

thanks very much for your intesest,i m from north of italy a town called cinisello balsamo near milano,whe i was younger i spent 4 summer in bournemouth a lovely town where i tried to lern english ehehehe.so i m calling some insurances in italy to know what i can do,and the first days in september go to motor company in milan to ask the right documents i need for that car.chimeras are not imported in italy i think i ll find some troubles to realize my dream.

They were the importeur for TVR in Italy and have the occasional TVR for sale. They should deffinatly be able to help you register the car in Italy.
There is also a small TVR-CC in Italy!
