Apologies if this one is a regular question - I'm a sometime reader of the AM forum but couldn't find anything recently.

I'm going to be in a position to rent something interesting/nice for my birthday this year (November). I've always loved the Vantage, but I'm also a bit of a convertible "ho" - having owned S2000s and MGs (F, B Roadster and Midget) in the past.

All things being equal, I'd plump for the roadster, but I'm slightly concerned that I might be selling myself short in terms of enjoyment.

Is the Vantage Roadster a "proper" roadster? ie built from the ground up to be a convertible. Or simply a coupé with the lid chopped off and the requisite strengthening carried out elsewhere?

The fact that it's November and I live north of the wall is a whole different kettle of fish, mind you biggrin I'm willing to gamble on a softtop in terms of weather if there's not a huge amount of difference in the handling.

Cheers folks smile

Apparently [as told by a dealer]..........

.........the revised chassis of the AM V8 Roadster is actually stiffer than a Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe's chassis.

The roadster has been commended on having a chassis that is all but as stiff as its coupe brother. I doubt if you'd be disappointed in either for just one day! wink
