F1 WRC

Is this a clear sign that drivers in F1 are getting fed up with how things are going?
sure, WRC isn't the most popular of motorsports right now, but it seems to be attracting some of the top drivers in the world(Kimi, Rossi, Kubica soon and Vettel).

are we close to seeing a mass exodus?

I bloody hope so. Rallying is so much more exciting than track racing, but except the Group B era, it really hasn't had the coverage or following it deserves. WRC is obviously the pinnacle of rallying , but even the grass roots stage rallies are worth watching IMO.

Button just competed in a tri-athlon. Could all F1 drivers turn to this sport instead of boring F1?

It's nothing new, think about how many drivers used to race in multiple series, this only stopped as more drivers had clauses in their contracts banning them. Moving the summer F1 break to conincide with Le Mans and allowing the F1 drivers to compete would be a fun thing to watch (if only to see which ones dont get the endurance thing)

I also heard on the news that Alonso has been signed for Real Madrid

Rallying has always attracted some of the top drivers in the world. A few of them happen to have been in F1 as well

Can't read the title of this thread and not think of alonso @ canada the other year, who seemed determined to use a different track from everyone else.

In the good ol' days it was not unusual for drivers to contest or at least try their hand at a range of series. Modern F1 is so focused, specialised and time consuming it has limited this, although the testing ban may be helping to bring back some of the old spirit by freeing up drivers spare time.

I think it's just drivers trying different things. We apparently have Loeb in F1 at Abu Dhabi. There has also been Rossi who has tried F1 and WRC. They just want to be the best at everything.

Yes! Alonso is setting up a cycling team, and Webber races bikes in Oz.

While max tries to get rid of manufactures from F1 rallying is in desperate need of some more. The Citron/Ford battle just isnt the same as the Subauru/Mitsi battle, and think it would be great if all 4 and maybe even 5 with peugeot. And while I love to go and watch them (I do have a concept of women and dont eat scotch eggs) it would be nice to have a few differnt cars to look at!

you're right it's nothing new. but it's not normal for the way things are these days. most drivers are tending to stick to their main catagories.
