I have been updating all of the rubber seal on my Mk1 recently. However a word of warning.
I replaced the seal between the roof and windscreen. The rubber was supplied by RG and fitted perfectly on the right hand side, but when I ran it along the top of the screen, the lip of the rubber started to run off. On closer examination , the rubber was fine, same lip depth, but it showed that when the new screen fitted in March by Autoglass it had not been located correctly.

I took the car to Autoglass to show them the issue and the technician agreed that the screen was in wonky, but because I had replaced the rubber myself, this invalidated the warranty!!! My argument was that had I not needed to replace the worn rubber then I would not have noticed the defect, but to no avail. I could therefore expect to pay £700 for a re-fit if the screen broke, or circa £100+ if it did not.

I have written to the MD of Autoglass and await a response.

If you got the glass replaced via your insurance company then get in touch with them and perhaps see if they can assist. Sometimes if it comes from "the big boys" Autoglass will back down.

I had the windscreen of my Noble replaced and the idiots hoovered the plastic dash once finished. Unfortunately this scratch it badly. After getting the insurance company involved Autoglass got the dash recoated.

I know your angst, just shelled out near on 1000 to get my rack repaired after assessors missed the damage, now they agree that "OSF Oil seals crushed", but refuse to link it to the cayenne parking on my bonnet. Awaiting my third party engineers report, and then its off to trading standards/solicitor/insurance ombudsmen etc....grrr

As I said Small Claims. Let Autoglass know you intend to proceed with this in advance and give them a chance to respond. You need to prove you have been 'fair and reasonable' at all stages. A failure to respond by them puts you in a good starting position.

Trading Standards would be another avenue if you want to resolve the matter
