Dear All,

I believe I have located the Oil Sump drainer plug on the back, passenger-side of the sump but it appears to have a square-section counter-sunk drive and nothing I have fits it.

Does anyone know what size this counter-sunk section is and, more importantly, where I can get the tool to fit it from the web ??

Thanks for any advice.

I was fairly sure it took a normal rachet drive. Without the box spanner bit on of course

Well, here is a crap photo but I hope you will see that it is, in fact, square-section.

Thanks Jules, that's what I thought too and have tried two of the three box drives that I possess all without success.

I have a vague memory now that APM Andy said he'd changed the plug and thread during a service. I'll give him a ring and hope that he's around.

Thanks for the advices thumbup

Yep looks like a 3/8 drive ratchet would do the job... Difficult to gauge the size from the picture.

Certainly different from the one on my road car. Although another engine i have is a 3/8 size.

That's different to mine.

MIne has a "normal" hex-head one.

You should be able to pick up a set of square drive fittings from any decent tool shop / auto-factors and surely one of them will do it.

I have a set that I got about two years ago and they were very cheap, less than a tenner.

The set I have has one that fits most of the current Renaults.

I'll have a look when i get a chance and see if there's a make / model on the box.

Errmmmm, the general level of the service industry in Luxembourg falls just below the level of morals in the global banking industry

Have found a decent tool shop at least. Will take some measurements and try and get a drive sorted out.

Thanks again for all comments thumbup
