Forza 2 - Best way through the career mode

My mate has just got an xbox, obviously he got Forza 2, as its the main game i play. He has bought all the game add-ons, but he's wanting to get through career as fast as possible (he's using advanced controls, manual, stm/tcs/abs all off, no line, hard ai)

But is struggling for cars. I'm going to gift him a few later, so which cars would be the most useful for getting through the career? (not counting the one model races, cos thats quite clear)

I've found R2/R3 cars provide quite a clear advantage over the AI!

Best tip for career mode is to use the car you win and maybe just bung a weight reduction on get a lead over the AI.
Once you run out of races you will have enough money to buy the cars you need (like a heavyweight car).

I've added him as a friend, as soon as he accepts, I'll start winging some cars over to him, mainly 'prize' cars, but good for a start.

to be honest, a decent pair of RWD and FWD R3 or R2 cars will see him through enough of the races to build up enough money to be able to get any car winning any race.
