If you've an older XK (X100) why not seek out the original OEM Brembo set-up? Later Alcons from latest Gen-XK seems like a lot of faff, and for what reason exactly?

If it is to prove you can do it, well why not build a model steam engine instead, eh? hehe

No real reason, i don't think it would be a upgrade over the brembos (which i have at the moment)?. the reason i asked is I was asked by my father to find out how much they are. Now my father doesn't have a XKR-S, but his friend does (lives in France) who has tracked his XKR-S and now need new front discs and pads hehe he wanted to know if it was cheaper to buy here then over in france. well, i can tell you that the discs and pads are lot cheaper than the old brembo prices.

for example, local dealer quoted me £360 (inc vat) for front discs and just over £100 for front pads. compared to brembo fronts discs and pads, that is almost half price! I think i'll sign into XKEC and find out how to do it.. !

Eh? Just call a Jag Dealer and ask them! What's getting a price for replacement Alcons got to do with retro fitting to old shape XK?

Hi Gaz, I asked that very question about putting the Alcons on the new XKR and the Jag dealer said they're not allowed to do it, very wierd I thought, wasn't too bothered so didn't pursue it further. They wouldn't give me a price.

People with X100 xk/r with the thought of upgrading to brembos could upgrade to the Alcon set up in stead. i'd imagine the calipers are quite expensive though.

We have done a few of these using the Brembo discs and using the 6 pot Alcon calipers to increase the braking efficiency over the Brembo calipers.

We can also get replacement hubs so that you can use Alcon 400m discs with the 6 pot Alcon calipers. This would mean you could buy standard Alcon parts when you need replacement parts in the future.
