Looking at the new S4 (test drive next week, so not physically been in one yet).

Any advice/comments from owners or people who've driven it?

Any must have/must not have options? Looking at speccing the drive select and damping control/sports diff but not sure what dynamic steering is.

And the eternal dilemma of badge deletion?

Thanks.

Popped into my local dealer this morning to arrange a test drive. Cant make my mind up on manual or flappy paddles. Then they had an Avant parked outside too. So know Im not sure if I want one of them over the saloon. Bugger.

Im trying hard to downspec but every item I feel I need/want, seems to mean you have to order lots of other bits I dont need/want. Grr.

White or black with privacy? scratchchin

Sports Diff seems a must have.

The showroom model at my local dealer is specced up to well over £50k yikes but sat with the salesman for 10 mins and got what I really needed for about £39k

Now just need to find a dealer willing to sell me their demo for sub £35k. Dont want much do I wink

Playing with the spec on the website gives me a price of about £38000. I'm hoping (false?)to be able to get a reasonable discount, particularly as we're possibly changing the wifes car soon too.

The low mileage 2nd handers round here seem to be >40k but have all the toys. The dealer implied I'd do much better just ordering my own.

I'm not old enough yet for an auto or avant, no matter how good the autobox is!

In terms of the complementary items, annoying isn't it? I particularly don't want a £150 ski bag just cos I want sport seats!

I'm uncertain as to the actual change from speccing the sports diff, any idea?

Colour has to be that dark grey.

I 'know' Im going to end up with a manual saloon in the end.

The salesman also told me that delivery times have now slipped to December, and not much chance of a discount, but there was no point in pushing that point until I had my money on the table.(but they would throw in a £1k set of wheels they have in stock that I like)

Seems like Audi (or at least S4s) are recession proof frown

Dealers say all sorts, mine said end of October and implied there were deals to be had. I never believe a word till you're at the hard bargaining stage.

Broadspeed quotes £30249 base price OTR so wave that in their face if they're balking at a discount.

I wish I had the balls/time to sell my car privately, I'd make at least £1500 more. And then I'd go with Broadspeed and dodge all the "I'll have to go discuss that with my boss" prevarication.
