Heater blower

I was out for a run today and noticed that the heater fan does not work. The fuse is OK. Is there a history of the selector or anything failing? I imagine the fans themselves are as reliable as any other, so I'm guessing at a control problem?? Any suggestions gladly recieved.

The heater ECU is under the passenger side dash, tucked away behind the carpet and often cable tied to a piece of trunking.

Pull it down, hold the heater ecu in one hand and give the heater ECU connector a gentle twist both ways with the controls set so the heater fan should be on. Hopefully the fan may come on again. Often the earth connector pin erodes and the plastic in the connector melts.

If it is not this then probably have to look at the heater/heater fan itself.

Not wishing to hijack the thread but I have a similar problem and wonder if the heater ECU could also be the culprit:
The blower works, the A/C works, but turning the dial to hot (A/C off) I get no heat - any idea's? Any pointers appreciated.

That's 99% likely to be the heater stepper motor located under heater matrix box under bonnet. Search for Any Olearys thread on here on how to replace it.

Thanks Whitey & Blues, the stepper motor thread looks just the ticket, similar problem to that on my old Griff. Just wondering if the over travel of the motor can be adjusted by a modified link arm to the flap I.e. reduce the crank length.

Fiddling about with the ecu sorted it out. By the time I had dropped the ecu down the fan was working, must have just been a wonky connection.
