I can't be the only one. I get bitten all the damn time, regardless of whether or not I am wearing insect repellant.......

Yesterday, I was wearing so much stuff that I couldn't hold onto the dog's lead easily yet I still got bitten on the hand....

FFS, how can I stop this? Is there a natural remedy I can use given I've tried a number of insect repellants and yet I still get bitten.

I have the same trouble. Mosquitos love a piece of me.

My O/H never gets bitten.

There is no solution - I got bitten by some little bugger on the palm of my hand when I was climbing in the lakes last week... bloody hurt like hell!

Let me know if you find one!

I run to and from the car at my office...

They still get me!

Aaaah, the snake oil of the hiking community - I need to try this one day. I can imagine my wife when I come back smelling of this stuff after a weekend fishing with my mates...

yes I hear very good things about this from friends that venture off to the far side of the world.

I never needed to worry - mozzies loved taking a bite out of the ex and left me alone.

Well it helps if you dont spray scented deoderant all over yourself, or wear aftershave/edt as the smell attracts the little buggers!!!

+1 Yep scent of vitamin B residue in your skin is a known repellant.

Insect repellent doesnt actually repel, it just masks your smell. Clearly you smell so bad it doesnt work on you biggrin

Try not showering for about 5 days. Seriously. They go for you because you have lots of lovely perfumes (some natural) and the air of cleanliness.

I dont get bitten hardly at all while a person next to me will get bitten to pieces. Yes, I do shower.

Mosquitos are attracted by carbon dioxide which we all expirate in our breath and through our skin. The more efficiently you convert the air you breath into corbon dioxide, the more you get bitten.
I think the only effective ways to avoid getting bitten are to distract the little bds with a more concentrated source of CO2 than your breath/sweat, or to mask your production of CO2 with a repellent containing DEET.
All the other old wives tales about Marmite and Avon hand cream are just that. Citronella doesn't work either.

Yeah, but so do I. I think I'd rather be bitten......

Perhaps I am making a big mistake in showering every day and using soap and Lynx shower gel...........

This Skin so Soft business however, I'll ask the OH about that, ta for the tip.

Out of interest, is it mainly blokes who are getting bitten whilst their female partners are not getting bitten? Just my OH will walk the dogs with me and not get bitten at all, whilst I feel like I'm a walking buffet for the local insect life.

lol...avon skin so soft as been tested on numerous occasions by the London School of Tropical Medicine and been shown to have pretty much zero effect.....

and actually women tend to get bitten more than men...they exhale fractionally more CO2 (one of the ways mosi's find you), are slightly warmer (another way) and have slightly thinner skin......though apparently not than you wink
